CAS is seeking an Organometallic/Inorganic/Coordination Chemist for our Content Operations team at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
Position Summary:
The Coordination Chemist applies scientific expertise, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and language skills to build CAS's chemical information collection. They curate high-quality research data from patents, journals, reports, books, conference proceedings, and dissertations from 180 countries in over 50 languages. Responsibilities may include indexing substance and reaction data and providing scientific insights for other CAS functions.
Job Duties:
Analyze, collect, and curate chemical structure data from patents and journals, following CAS policies.
Use technical knowledge and language skills to extract insights and enhance the CAS Content Collection.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Organometallic/Inorganic/Coordination Chemistry or related field preferred; bachelor’s with 1-3 years of experience acceptable.
Chinese, Japanese, or Korean language skills are a plus but not required.
Strong scientific reading and writing skills.
Ability to learn policies, tools, and work habits to ensure quality and productivity.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Flexibility to adapt to workflow changes and collaborate effectively.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry required.
