Job Description Principal Responsibilities and Tasks Serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring exceptional customer service in Patient Access/Administrative Services, recognizing patient anxiety and needs. Focuses on interpersonal skills, data collection, situation assessment, and team collaboration to enhance customer service and hospital financial health. Verifies patient and insurance demographics, reviews benefits in Epic, provides cost estimates, secures pre-authorizations, collects co-pays and deposits, and offers financial assistance. Provides wayfinding assistance to clinics, ensuring patients reach their appointments efficiently. Maintains knowledge of registration requirements for accurate reporting and billing, obtains necessary signatures, and performs clerical duties. Educates patients on insurance coverage, billing requirements, and procedures. Addresses coverage issues, working with patients and staff to resolve them. Ensures paperwork accuracy, contacts clinical staff for incomplete registrations, and distributes admission documents as needed. Maintains outpatient department scheduling templates for providers, ensuring optimal utilization. Collaborates with Care Management and Social Work teams to gather reimbursement information and ensure compliance with pre-admission and pre-certification protocols. Assists in training new Admitting staff by demonstrating departmental processes.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Certification or membership in organizations such as AAHAM, NAHAM, preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience in clerical, customer service, or receptionist roles; healthcare experience preferred.
