About The Company
A Brydon portfolio company in the public sector technology and analytics space is seeking an exceptional finance leader to join our leadership team and build the finance function from the ground up. As the CFO, you will shape the company's financial strategy, implement best practices from day one, and lead the development of a high-performing team. You will be a key advisor, collaborator, and operator, working closely with leadership to align financial priorities with strategic growth initiatives. This role is ideal for a finance leader experienced in private equity portfolio companies who is excited by high growth and an accelerated path to CFO.
Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO and leading the company's finance function. This high-impact role is responsible for building financial and operational infrastructure to support aggressive revenue growth and long-term sustainability.
Near term:
Move the company to best practices in controllership and financial management
Improve and streamline the monthly close process
Implement rigorous cash flow forecasting
Enhance internal spend and cash controls
Integrate add-on acquisitions and lead M&A activities
Lead and execute systems integrations (finance systems, HR, cash management)
Provide accurate pro-forma financial reporting
Identify and capture synergies during integration
Develop a repeatable, effective financial reporting process
Establish weekly, monthly, quarterly reporting mechanisms and operating packs
Work with other functions to quantify and track KPIs that drive value creation
Design and implement a standardized process for updating financial reports
Codify and drive the annual budgeting process
Lead the organization through an efficient budgeting process
Partner with leadership to refine the 2026 value creation plan
Review billing and revenue recognition processes and partner with technology to improve systems
Evaluate migrating existing finance systems to upgraded platforms for better reporting and scalability
Longer term:
Think holistically about the business, advising on acquisitions, integrations, pricing, and strategy
Build out a finance team capable of executing transactions and providing insightful reporting
Drive growth through effective capital allocation
Lead additional functions such as HR, IT, and administration
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
7-10+ years of finance leadership experience in a private equity-backed company, preferably in government contracting (B2G)
Strong accounting background and controllership fundamentals
Experience with M&A transactions and post-merger integrations
Experience implementing ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage) in resource-constrained environments
Deep expertise in FP&A, cash flow forecasting, and financial modeling
Experience with compliance, risk management, and reporting to boards and lenders
Proven ability to build scalable finance functions in PE-backed companies
Knowledge of automation and billing platforms
Hands-on HR oversight experience and working with third-party HR providers
Location
Preference for in-person in Washington, D.C., with consideration for candidates in Maryland, Virginia, or those open to hybrid travel arrangements
Benefits
Full-time position with salary and equity based on experience; range $200,000 - $250,000 annually
Open to candidates in Chicagoland or Raleigh-Durham areas, or those willing to travel up to 50%
