Job Title
Under direct supervision, operates, monitors, controls, tests, and troubleshoots a water/wastewater treatment plant utilizing thorough technical and scientific knowledge and skills to independently perform activities within prescribed operations and safety guidelines and procedures. Provides general ground maintenance duties for county maintained and county owned properties. Essential Job Functions
- Under the guidance of the crew leader and supervisor, provides maintenance and operates both the water tower and wastewater treatment plant. - Under direct supervision, collects relevant data for the maintenance and operation of the water/wastewater treatment plant. - Operates a variety of equipment including power mowers, variety of hand tools, trucks, tractors, and skid steers. - Performs minor maintenance on equipment used. - Conducts landscaping duties on county maintained and county owned areas including weed eating, fertilizing, aerating, weed pulling, watering and sweeping sidewalks. - Maintains, repairs and installs underground water irrigation systems. - Picks up trash along county property and county maintained areas. - Repairs fences along county maintained greenway and county parks. - Trim trees on county property and county right-of-ways. - Perform snow removal duties for county properties. - Be available to provide snow removal and general labor for any water related incidents during non-scheduled hours. - Assist crew leader in locating utilities within Archer Complex. - Perform other duties when assigned. Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of County policies and procedures. - Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices. - Ability to work well with others. - Ability to work in all weather conditions. - Ability to give guidance to seasonal staff. - Ability to obtain knowledge of water and wastewater treatment methodologies through hands-on and classroom settings. - Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions. - Ability to perform manual labor clearly and follow instructions. - Ability to perform manual labor for an extended period of time. - Skill in operating various types of trucks and equipment safely and efficiently. - Skill in maintaining equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures. - Skill in safely using power and hand tools. - Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with County staff. - Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of grounds maintenance, water/wastewater treatment or equipment operator experience; OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
