Description
Primary Function: The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for greeting and registering all patients who present themselves for inpatient/outpatient surgical procedures. Additionally, this position performs unit specific tasks which contribute to the efficient operation of the Surgery Center and business office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Greets all patients, family members, hospital staff, and visitors in a manner which is respectful and courteous. Checks-in patients, verifies all demographic and insurance information; collects all required co-pays; updates account information as necessary; verifies that all required authorizations and/or referrals have been obtained. Ensures that patient admission packets include all required documentation (health questionnaire, privacy statement, consent for treatment, and patient bill of rights). Corrects insurance/billing that are erroneously entered into surgical software system in a timely manner. Effectively communicates patient arrival information and registration status to pre-op nursing staff. Supports PAT, patient scheduling, and medical records functions as needed. Assists with the ongoing completion of patient charts for impending procedures. Receives constructive feedback in a positive self-develop-mental manner. Answers the telephone, responds to requests and provides routine information in accordance with policies and Surgery Center best practices. Ensures that patient files are maintained in an orderly fashion. Provides service recovery to patients and family members as needed, inform immediate supervisor of any issues that cannot be resolved. Cares for the cleanliness of the patient waiting and lobby/reception area. Promotes cost effectiveness within the department through the appropriate management of time and resources. Functions as an effective team member. Demonstrates adaptability, flexibility, and accountability when changes are made in job description and responsibility, including performing all qualified duties throughout the Surgery Center. Strives to maintain the confidentiality of all patients and their families/significant other(s).
