Receive, store, and deliver ingredients, raw materials, and supplies, and work in the process to support the mill and production departments. Transports material in the most productive, efficient, accurate, and safe manner with due concern for product quality and condition. Primary Job Responsibilities:
Operates material handling equipment safely and efficiently to minimize risk to personnel and damage to inventory and equipment; uses equipment to receive, store, and issue material or merchandise in the warehouse. Demonstrates safe work practices to prevent on the job injuries by following all company and OSHA safety regulations. Enters data and performs tasks as directed by the Warehouse Management System (WMS); reads work order/bill of lading to determine material movement requirements using material handling equipment. Maintains accurate inventory and other stock records, by entering data into computer terminal; assists the cycle counter with inventory. Unloads ingredients, raw materials, supplies, etc., from trailers; weighs, documents, processes, and stores incoming materials per the inbound schedule; examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and informs supervisor of concern; compares invoices against purchase orders, bill of lading and receiving documents to verify receipt of items ordered or received. Follows operational procedures for verification of incoming shipments, record keeping, handling and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventory. Completes receiving transfers, inventory transactions and issues receipts to reflect material movement and inventory status as required. Works as a member of the warehouse team by communicating needed information to supervisors, coworkers, vendors, suppliers, etc., in a timely manner to ensure efficient warehouse operation. Unloads salt tanker and fills salt bins following company procedures. Loads materials on trucks for interplant transfers. Operates dock plates and dock locks following all company procedures. Performs daily inspection checks on forklift, such as vehicle condition, charging and or replacing battery, etc. Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in the warehouse, daily; inspects trailers upon arrival and after unloading. Assists in the training of new Warehouse Workers and ongoing training of current employees, as requested. Performs other duties as assigned not an essential function. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Skill in operating material moving equipment in a safe and conscientious manner. Performs basic math operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to work as a productive member of a team. Ability to work at a rapid pace for continuous periods of time. Ability to organize and work on multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to deal effectively with persons representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view. Communicates effectively with plant personnel in a courteous and cooperative manner. Demonstrates efficient material handling skills on a regular basis. Has a critical role in assuring food safety and quality within the manufacturing environment by upholding food safety and regulatory policies and responsibilities.
