$47,921.64 - $71,882.46 Job Summary
The Doula provides continuous emotional and physical support for a person in labor and immediate family, spanning the duration of labor and postpartum, including attending labor to provide continuity of care. Responsibilities include comfort measures such as positioning, massage, ambulation, hydration, and nutrition. The Doula supports patients' birth plans in collaboration with the healthcare team and facilitates parent/infant bonding postpartum through skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding support. Performs other duties within scope of practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide emotional, physical, and informational support to expectant parents throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Report patient concerns to RN and care team. Participate in care planning and communication. Assist with labor techniques including breathing exercises, relaxation, and positioning. Support with eating, hydration, grooming, dressing, toileting. Incorporate safe patient handling into restorative care. Maintain a clean, safe environment. Communicate effectively across cultures, considering language barriers and norms. Document all care accurately. Support safety and error reporting systems. Qualifications
High School Diploma/G.E.D. required 1-3 years working with laboring patients required 1-3 years as a Doula preferred Knowledge of medical terminology preferred Effective communication skills Understanding of cultural practices related to childbirth Responsibility and accountability demonstrated BCLS certification upon hire required Certified Labor Support Doula (CD) within 180 days required Physical Demands
Includes standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and other physical activities frequently required. Working Conditions
