Base pay range $60- $64
The post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nurse cares for patients who have undergone anesthesia. The PACU nurse is responsible for observing and treating patients post-operation and ensuring they wake safely from anesthesia. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and levels of consciousness to confirm proper sedation wear-off, detecting adverse reactions, and ensuring patient recovery.

Per Diem - 12 hours
MUST have trauma level 1 experience
Responsibilities
Coordinate patient care, communicate with surgeons and anesthesiologists about patient conditions, and receive management directions. Maintain homeostasis.
Understand preoperative factors affecting immediate postoperative care and utilize nursing procedures for communication and interaction with patients.
Identify physical symptoms or changes and take appropriate timely actions.
Manage airway procedures and use related equipment. Assess cardiopulmonary systems for changes and provide treatment.
Observe behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications, take actions, and document. Adjust care based on medication effects, following medication rights to prevent errors.
Assess and reassess pain, employing appropriate pain management techniques.
Have knowledge of anesthetic drugs, their actions, and side effects. Be familiar with arterial lines, central lines, spinal/epidural catheters, and documentation procedures.
Maintain medical/surgical asepsis during treatments and procedures, ensuring safety in medication and fluid administration. Implement safety measures to prevent harm.
Provide explanations and education to patients and families, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
Treat patients and families with dignity and respect. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Complete work efficiently, demonstrate flexibility, and meet performance standards.
Perform other PACU RN duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
ACLS and PALS certifications as per contract requirements.
Current CPR certification if applicable.
TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
Current health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
Must be at least 18 years old.
