Job Duties

The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high volume, fast paced office with frequent deadlines. Applicants must be committed to providing excellent customer service and have a desire to work in a team-oriented environment. Essential duties and responsibilities include ensuring court instructions are executed, legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies; field public inquires; data entry; scanning case files; scheduling; preparing correspondence; filing; assessing court fines and costs; and receipting payments. Applicant must have the ability to lift 20-pounds; frequent bending; use of a stepladder; and the ability to stand for long periods of time. On-the-job training provided to identify core tasks and the skills, knowledge, and competencies to complete requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Applicants must be able to follow and explain procedures; and possess the ability to manage competing priorities. Most competitive applicants will have considerable court, business, or office related experience. Applicants must be detailed-oriented, organized; work independently or as a team player; self-motivated; able to multitask; possess sound problem resolution skills; complete tasks with minimal supervision; provide excellent customer service; have excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel; and maintain discretion and integrity while working with highly sensitive and confidential matters is crucial.
