Job Description: Stepdown RN (Nights)
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for a 13-week contract position working three 12-hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, including weekdays and occasional weekends. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified candidate to provide critical care in a fast-paced medical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Stepdown unit patients, adapting to varying acuity levels.
- Monitor patient conditions with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 in emergency situations.
- Interpret telemetry readings and manage cardiac drips with no titration.
- Administer IV medications and perform IV starts, phlebotomy, and blood product administration.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate medical records using Cerner EMR and adhere to isolation precautions and standard protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license (West Virginia or Compact License accepted; pending licenses may be considered).
- Minimum of 1.5 to 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of experience in a medical-surgical/telemetry setting.
- A minimum of 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with the ability to read cardiac strips.
- Current certifications including BCLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.
- Skills required include telemetry monitoring, central line management, and tracheostomy care among others.
Unit Info:
- The Stepdown unit incorporates patients primarily dealing with cardiac issues, with cases resulting from surgeries and interventional cardiology procedures. The unit has a daily census of approximately 34 adults and geriatrics.
Additional Details:
- Scrubs required: Burgundy and/or white; not provided.
- Orientation occurs every other Thursday.
- Modules prior to start will need to be completed (non-billable).
