We are currently seeking a Tax Manager to join our Trust and Estate Practice, which provides Estate Planning and Tax Compliance Services.

Essential Duties:

  1. Provide high-level fiduciary, personal income, gift, and estate tax compliance, as well as estate planning advisory services.
  2. Review individual, fiduciary, estate, and gift tax returns.
  3. Review estate and trust fiduciary accountings.
  4. Handle Federal and State tax notices and audits.
  5. Research Federal, State, and International tax laws, prepare tax memorandums on technical topics, and develop tax savings strategies.
  6. Manage all aspects of client accounts and foster client relationships.
  7. Review and analyze estate planning legal documents.
  8. Engage in business development, including networking, public speaking, and authoring Trust and Estate-related articles.
  9. Manage other group members, monitor their workload, and provide training and assistance.

Qualifications:
  1. BA/BS degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  2. MST, JD, LL.M. degrees are a plus.
  3. Active CPA license or EA designation required.
  4. 7+ years of experience with trust, estate, and gift matters.
  5. Experience in a public accounting firm.
  6. Extensive experience in Tax Advisory, Estate/Trust planning, and compliance, including estate and inheritance tax (e.g., 1041, 709, 5227, ESBT, QSST).
  7. Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  10. Experience reviewing fiduciary, gift, and estate tax returns.
  11. Preferred experience with ProSystem fx, Axcess Tax, GEMS, Intelliconnect, RIA Checkpoint, and BNA.
  12. Experience with research software and memo writing.
  13. Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.
