Boston, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., Reston Direct Counsel is seeking a

Patent Agent/Advisor

to join a nationally recognized patent counseling & prosecution practice. This is an outstanding opportunity to leverage your

technical background in electrical or mechanical engineering

while working on cutting-edge technologies for leading clients across industries. Why This Role Stands Out: Hands-on patent work : Conduct prior art searches, analyze patents and scientific papers, and support attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation.

Drafting opportunities : Prepare patent applications and responses to office actions, gaining valuable experience with direct client and USPTO interactions.

What We’re Looking For: Degree in

electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field

(advanced degree a plus)

At least one year of law firm experience in patent counseling & prosecution

Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills

Registered U.S. Patent Agent

or

eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam

Initiative, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment

Compensation & Benefits: Base salary range: $125,000 – $205,000 , depending on experience and location
