Looking for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer, supporting our mission to deliver safe, reliable, and efficientpower system solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background inelectrical power systems, with expertise in interpreting and designing variouselectrical diagrams, creating relay settings, programming protective devices,and performing dynamic modeling. This role offers an exciting opportunity towork on generation, industrial, and transmission projects, with a preferencefor candidates holding a Professional Engineer (PE) license and advanceddegrees in Electrical Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain awareness of industry standards such as NERC, IEEE, and NEC, ensuring all designs adhere to regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain a NERC compliance program for customer based on each family of standards.
• Ability to develop all plans for PRC-005, 019 and 027.
• Develop, validate, and analyze dynamic models of power system components using PSSE and/or PSLF software for ISO and NERC MOD.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and coordinate with clients, vendors, and field personnel.
• Interpret and analyze single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams for power systems.
• Design and develop relay protection and control schemes using devices from SEL, GE, ABB, and other manufacturers.
• Create and validate protective relay settings for generation, industrial, and transmission projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
• Provide senior review of relay coordination studies, arc-flash analysis, and system modeling to optimize system protection and reliability.
• Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and protective devices in the field.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop system documentation, including settings calculations, schematics, and operational procedures.
• Interpret simulation results to recommend system improvements and protective settings adjustments.
• Program and configure RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) for automation and control applications.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Education :
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (minimum)
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
Licensing :
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred, especially in applicable states.
Experience :
• 5+ years in electrical power systems, including generation, industrial, and transmission projects.
• Proven ability to interpret electrical diagrams (single line, three line, schematics).
• Hands-on experience creating relay settings and performing coordination studies.
• Familiarity with RTU programming and automation systems.
• Knowledge of NERC standards and compliance.
• Transmission system experience is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of power system protection, control, and automation.
• Proficiency with protection modeling software and relay setting calculation tools.
• Ability to perform arc-flash studies and system modeling.
• Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as NETA, IEEE, NEC, and NERC.
• Proficiency in dynamic modeling and simulation using PSSE, including transient stability studies.
• Experience with GE PSLF or Siemens PSSE software for dynamic simulation and stability analysis is a strong plus.
• Understanding of power system stability phenomena and controls, including excitation systems, turbine governors, and power system stabilizers.
Additional Skills:
• Effective communication and technical writing skills.
• Project management experience or ability to lead small projects.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Other Pertinent Skills & Certifications (Recommended)
• Knowledge of substation automation and SCADA systems.
• Experience with power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and relay coordination.
• Familiarity with renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies.
• Certification in NERC CIP or related compliance standards.
Salary range: $120k-$140k depending on experience
