ROLE: FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a Reporter/Multi-Media Journalist for our broadcast and digital platforms. The successful applicant will have a proven ability to enterprise stories that connect with audiences on broadcast, website and social. The position requires the MMJ to shoot, write and edit vosots and packages.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accurate reporting of news stories
Attends editorial meetings and regularly pitches original story ideas
Develops community contacts and a network of news sources
Sets up, write, shoot and edit packages to meet deadlines daily
Collaborates with photographer on live shots as needed
Contributes to our digital platforms by writing and editing stories
Ensures all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
Attends station partnerships in community
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
B.A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism, communication or equivalent related experience
Prefer 3-5 years TV news reporting in a medium to large market
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must interact positively and productively with colleagues and the public
Upholds station values and models professionalism on and off the air
Exceptional writing, grammar and spelling
Excellent communication skills with ability to ad-lib when required
Strong on-air presentation – must be credible, personable and engaging
Adobe Premiere experience and video camera/news photography skills
Ability to carry 25-30 pounds of equipment
Flexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news content
Strong attention to detail
Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback
Compensation – Starting at $31/hr commensurate with experience and skill level.
