Animal Resources Manager (Animal Resource Center - Service Department - Galvesto

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or 5 years of experience relevant to the role.
An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.
Preferred:
Experience with the Biocontainment Safety Cabinets that are used in the labs, familiar with Greenline Smart Flow systems (they need to be able to troubleshoot), have experience w/ maintenance, and experience with inventory.
Job Summary: Will oversee animal care technicians under the direction of the Associate Director of Operations and be responsible for quality assurance for all assigned facilities up to an Animal Biological Safety Level 4 (ABSL-4) environment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain containment laboratory access and DOJ clearance
Job Duties: Provides oversight for daily animal care operations and animal care staff. Ensures all federal, state, and local regulatory statutes, including facility procedures, are followed regarding humane animal care and use. Monitors overall facility operations, including all security, safety, and maintenance standards. Reviews all assigned animal housing sites for deficiencies and ensures correction of procedure, equipment, and policies as it pertains to animal care. Establishes work schedules and coordinates workloads for animal care teams. Supervises staff in assigned areas, including completing and properly documenting all animal care tasks on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedules. Supervises Logistics team staff, including the deliveries of both animals and supplies, ensuring inventory levels are appropriate for current census. Responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies inventory as needed to complete tasks. Conducts daily care of animals safely, consistently, and appropriately for biosafety level up to ABSL-4. Monitors environmental conditions within all parts of all animal facilities. Responsible for the coordination of any construction, renovations, or repairs with the vivarium, working closely with investigators who may be impacted by such activity, and with any contractors involved. Responsible for maintaining all equipment, both moveable and non-moveable, insuring all are in proper working order.
Schedules preventative maintenance of equipment, troubleshoots and resolve issues within the scope of responsibility. Responsible for departmental annual asset inventory. Responsible for the inventory of all equipment assigned to Animal Resources to include proper disposal of any and all equipment no longer needed in the operation of the facility. Assist with the development of annual capital requests. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS Required: LATG certified Preferred: CMAR certified Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
