Job Description
KPFF Spokane's Heavy Civil/ Structural Team is composed primarily of structural engineers who design and evaluate infrastructure that connects communities. Our work spans a wide range of bridge and heavy-civil projects, including highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, culverts that support fish passage, ferry terminals, piers, wharves, and structural inspections. We take pride in our collaborative approach to consulting, partnering with clients across the industry, from small local agencies, to state transportation departments, to architects and contractors. Our team contributes to projects that range from feasibility studies, to new construction, to rehabilitation, to retrofits, always with a focus on technical excellence, environmental stewardship, and community impact.
Located in downtown Spokane, our Heavy Civil/Structural team is seeking an experienced
Bridge/Structural Engineer with 7-12 years of relevant experience.
The Bridge/Heavy-Civil Team consists of primarily structural engineers working in a vast array of bridge and heavy-civil design fields such as highway bridges, pedestrian bridges, walls, culverts/fish-passage, bridge inspection, ferry terminals, and piers/wharves. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach to consulting, working with clients from across the industry, including small local agencies, transportation departments, architects, and contractors. This position will allow you to lead and participate in the engineering design and management of a wide range of transportation projects in the Inland Northwest and beyond as well as:
Lead planning, design and construction support on stimulating infrastructure projects.
Develop and manage project scope, schedule and budget.
Engage with clients to define and achieve a successful outcome.
Lead and mentor junior engineers.
Perform structural design and analyses.
Perform inspection/field work.
Grow our practice in the Inland Northwest.
Qualifications: Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) License in Washington State or the ability to obtain via reciprocity
7-12 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
MSCE or MSE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
Structural Engineer (SE) License
Experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures
Proficiency with the following, or similar, software: CSI Software Suite (SAP, CSI Bridge), PG Super
Experience monitoring budgets and schedules, interacting with clients, and leading junior engineers.
Strong communicator and collaborator
Self-motivated
Eager to develop and grow as a structural engineer
Ability to work with, mentor, and lead junior engineers
Passionate about providing exceptional client services
Strong technical and organizational abilities
Additional Information
Physical Demands:
Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Compensation:
The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is
$115,000 - $150,000 annually.
Additionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center. During the interview process, we'll provide detailed information and address any questions you may have about the overall compensation package and benefits.
