Summary: Under supervision, the Food Service Worker performs various tasks and roles within the Food and Nutrition Department, working collaboratively as a team, supporting each other to provide the highest quality experience for our patients and guests.

Responsibilities:

ALL

The Food Service Worker may be assigned to anywhere on campus where food is stored, prepared or served.

May assist with set up, serving and restocking of food from counters and steamtables.

May be responsible for stocking items such as baked goods, snacks and beverages for sale.

Interacts with guests in the serving, retail and dining areas in a positive and welcoming manner.

May be responsible for assisting guests at the register by ringing up sales and following cash handling policies and procedures.

May have responsibility to operate industrial dish washing machine, washing all wares.

May be responsible to wipe workstations, counters, tables, as well as sweep and mop, and other janitorial duties.

Reports feedback to leadership any issues, for example: concerning quality of food, safety hazards, guest concerns and or broken equipment.

May be the representative of our department by answering patient calls and assisting them with their meal prescription.

May work on patient tray assembly.

May deliver supplies or meals to patient floors or rooms.

Leaves workstation clean, neat, organized and sanitized.

Varying schedule to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as the business dictates.

Attends training programs (classroom and or virtual) as assigned.

Complies with all company safety prevention and reporting of issues and or concerns, reporting all injuries and accidents in a timely manner.

Complies with all local, state and Federal rules and regulations in health, safety and sanitation, including HACCP policies and procedures.

Perform others duties and responsibilities as assigned.

FSW II

Duties of FSW II

Under general supervision, can perform tasks with a sequence of actions of sequence of steps to complete the task, which requires attention to the process of work.

Shows proficiency in their assigned task area and can provide assistance to one or more areas of the department.

May be an opening or closing position, with occasional oversight of other staff.

May involve more complex cashiering, restocking, and ensuring food safety protocols.

FSW III

Duties of FSW III

Shows leadership skills by taking on advanced responsibilities, including supervising and training staff.

Can provide assistance to 2 or more areas of the department.

May be opening or closing position, including supervision of employees.

May be responsible for supervision of compliance with health and safety regulations.

Mentors FSW I & II.

Other information:

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation to comply with health and safety regulations.

Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation.

Skill in working independently and in a group setting.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

ALL

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

FSW II & III

Associates Degree in Food Service Management. Education can be substituted on a year for year basis for relevant experience.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

FSW I

NONE

FSW II Two (2) years food service experience or equivalent.

FSW III

Four (4) years food service experience or equivalent.

Valid Municipality of Anchorage General Food Service Worker's Card

FSW II

ServSafe certification as issued by the National Restaurant Association; or be eligible to and obtain a certification within one (1) year from date of hire.

FSW III

ServSafe certification as issued by the National Restaurant Association.

FSW I - Delivery

Valid Municipality of Anchorage General Food Service Worker's Card

Driver's license

FSW II - Delivery

ServSafe certification as issued by the National Restaurant Association; or be eligible to and obtain a certification within one (1) year from date of hire.
