PRIMARY PURPOSE:
It is the primary responsibility of the Apprentice Engineer to perform maintenance and repair both inside and outside of the building. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate various equipment including forklift, aerial lift, scissor lift and use of hand and power tools. Troubleshoot and repair lighting fixtures, systems, plumbing and electrical issues in assigned areas. Complete maintenance and placement of table games including roulette wheels. Relocate table games according to floor layout and surveillance requirements. Run and bend conduit as well as size and pull wire. Troubleshoot electrical systems, motor controls, lighting and dimming systems and UPS systems. Climb ladders to access elevated areas such as ceilings and catwalks. Work with 12 volts to 480-volt electricity. Read and understand blueprints and wiring schematics to install and work on electrical components. Read and comprehend blueprints to understand the layout of the property, hotel rooms, and equipment. Receive and respond to maintenance calls in the hotel from guests and other departments. Operate power and hand tools to complete job assignments in a timely manner. Communicate with guests in a professional manner regarding work requests. Interact with co-workers to provide guest services in a coordinated manner. Find and determine source of power and gas issues using voltmeter or gauges. Maintain effective communication with management and co-workers when completing assigned tasks. Display proper etiquette and protocol when using two-way radio. Work under minimal supervision to complete tasks in a timely manner Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment ranging from heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment, fan coils, chillers, pumps, boilers, cooling towers and energy management systems (EMS Change filters on equipment including heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment, fan coils, chillers, pumps, boilers, cooling towers and energy management systems (EMS) Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be 21 years of age with valid license and identification. Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. Ability to work with supervision and in a team setting. Professional appearance and demeanor. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, and smoke. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work in all weather conditions.
