UNCLASSIFIED EXEMPT POSITION IN THE COUNTY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field required; supplemented by two years of administrative support experience in a legal setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required:
Certification as a Paralegal, preferred. Certification as a Notary Public, preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
Must demonstrate proficiency in performing essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Purpose of Classification This classification involves conducting paraprofessional legal work, assisting attorneys, and providing lead direction to legal assistants or administrative staff. Responsibilities include preparing for hearings and trials, conducting legal research, maintaining files and records, and communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court reporters, witnesses, and the Court.
Essential Functions
Leads and coordinates daily work activities:
Confers with supervisor, organizes tasks, monitors work, assists with complex issues, and provides training and supervision.
Conducts preliminary investigations:
Reviews complaints, conducts research, interviews clients, and maintains documentation.
Conducts discovery investigations:
Interviews witnesses, drafts legal documents, manages discovery process, and organizes data.
Manages document production:
Reviews client documents, organizes litigation support, and follows up on discovery requests.
Coordinates depositions:
Schedules, drafts notices, reviews documents, and assists with witness preparation.
Drafts and responds to motions and briefs:
Performs legal research, prepares exhibits, and manages court filings.
Participates in trial preparation and execution:
Prepares trial materials, organizes exhibits, and assists during trial.
Maintains legal documents and records:
Manages case files, litigation dockets, and calendars.
Processes department documentation:
Reviews and completes forms, reports, and correspondence.
Operates office equipment and software:
Uses computers, software applications, and office tools to complete tasks.
Communicates effectively:
Coordinates with staff, clients, court personnel, and others to facilitate work activities.
Additional Functions Performs other related duties as required.
