Position:

POINT OF SALE FRESH SPECIALIST

Requires open availability, including evenings and weekends.

Status:

Reports to the Category Assistant Manager

Pay Level:

III, non-exempt.

Purpose:

To support the Fresh Department Managers by ensuring accurate and up-to-date data is in our Point of Sale database. This includes entering yield test data into spreadsheets, ensuring costs from suppliers are kept up to date through invoice monitoring and catalog uploads, periodic auditing of item files for availability and consistency, maintaining item details for value-added products, and support for monthly/quarterly inventory.

Desired Qualities:

Our Point of Sale Specialists are systems mavens. They are organized and thrive on a routine while being able to cheerfully turn on a dime in the ever-evolving world of grocery retail. They are both familiar and proficient with computers in general and MS Office and Google applications specifically.

Responsibilities

Enter new products, as needed/requested by Category and Department Management. Inactivate discontinued products and update item changes promptly and accurately in the database for the point of sale system, from information received from both electronic vendor catalogs and Category and Department Management, and received invoices. Monitor and implement promotional pricing worksheets. Execute and audit sales worksheets for both on-sale and off-sale items. Maintained, monitored, updated price, and cost data, and audited for accuracy for produce, meat, seafood, and cheese for both the Point of Sale system and the scales. Assist with beer and wine as requested. Partner with Point of Sale Specialists to ensure our goal of achieving a zero-error scan file. Generate reports, queries, and prepare data as requested by Category and Department Managers, to maintain accurate data and pricing that achieves profit targets. Keep up to date on packaging costs and ensure packaging is included in item costs within the Point of Sale database. Partner with Category to onboard new suppliers brought on by Fresh Department Managers into the Point of Sale database. Participate in monthly/quarterly inventories for Fresh Departments, including preparing spreadsheets with up-to-date cost and product information, and assisting with data entry. Partner with E-Commerce to maintain image files for Webcart items. Support Category Team data maintenance, including time-sensitive issues, such as deliverables to marketing, vendor catalog uploads, and creation of sales batches. ALL STAFF DUTIES

Attend and participate in department and storewide meetings. Perform other tasks assigned by the Category Assistant Manager. Qualifications

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

One (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work up to 40 hours per week and adjust the schedule as needed to accommodate meetings, events, or special promotions. Computer literacy, specifically Microsoft and Google Suites; ability to adapt to new computer and electronic software, hardware, and devices. High confidentiality regarding pricing strategy, cost data, and vendors. Attention to detail and good organizational skills. Flexible - willingness to be open, to learn, and to take on new responsibilities. Demonstrate objectivity, neutrality, and calm. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to understand and use calculations needed to achieve margin goals and costs. Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to work as a collaborative team player. Ability to follow through on systems, procedures, and policies. Ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing conditions quickly. Ability to manage time with consistent weekly deadlines for reporting and other time-sensitive assignments. Demonstrated ability to work with customers and co-workers from various cultural backgrounds. Regular, predictable attendance. FUNCTIONAL

Ability to use hands or fingers to handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation. Ability to use office equipment: computer, Point of Sale, scanner, fax, copier. Ability to work in cold, wet conditions. PREFERRED

Natural and local foods (retail, wholesale). The ability to speak Spanish, French, or Swahili is a plus.
