Pursuant to the provisions of the General Laws and the revised Ordinances of the City of Methuen, Section 6-23, the City announces the following vacancy: First Assistant City Solicitor. Under the supervision of the City Solicitor, the First Assistant City Solicitor is second in command of the Law Department and assists the City Solicitor in all legal tasks and supervision of staff as needed. The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience including litigation experience, excellent judgment and a high level of both discretion and diplomacy in providing high quality legal services to the Mayor, Executive Departments and officials and the City Council. Job duties are varied and include drafting and reviewing, and negotiating all legal documents including all city contracts, advising municipal officials, and representing the City's interests in a variety of courts and administrative forums, including public sector labor forums.
