Stellar is seeking a Refrigeration Engineer to design refrigeration systems using the Design-Build delivery method and to be responsible for all aspects of assigned design projects. This role requires making technical decisions and directing the refrigeration scope of work for each project. Under the supervision of the Director of Engineering, the Refrigeration Engineer will work within the Industrial Refrigeration division on Food & Beverage projects across the United States.ResponsibilitiesDesigning, developing, maintaining, and optimizing refrigeration systems and equipment, including selecting the most appropriate and economical refrigeration system for each projectDeveloping initial outline scopes of work, block flow diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs, preliminary equipment selections, and technical reports, etc.Preparing project specificationsManaging project-level design technical decisionsConducting site visits to inspect installation quality and completion statusDelegating and/or reviewing equipment schedules, control group designs, final line sizing, and mass & energy balancesOverseeing completion of engineering tasks, accuracy of drawing packages/Revit models, and adhering to assigned work schedulesSupervising production work performed by Refrigeration DesignersReviewing all technical aspects of refrigeration submittalsCoordinating with other disciplines - especially HVACCreating, editing, reviewing, and issuing drawings or redline markupsConducting Process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analysis studiesEnsuring compliance with code changes and Stellar engineering standardsParticipating in industry organizations such as IIAR and ARFProviding presentations internally and externallyAbility to manage multiple, complex projectsQualificationsOver 10 years of industrial refrigeration engineering experienceExperience designing with NH3, Glycol, Freon, CO2BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldPE licensure is highly valuedStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to contribute effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary teaAbout Stellar: Stellar offers a comprehensive package which includes:Competitive pay based on experienceRemote & hybrid work options for many positionsPaid Time Off - accrue 15 days (120 hours) within first year of servicePaid holidaysMedical, dental, and vision insurance optionsTax-advantaged accounts (HSA, FSA, Dependent Care FSA)Company-paid life and disability insurance401(k) - company match with immediate vestingStellar, headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, is a fully integrated firm focusing on design, construction, architecture, engineering, and mechanical services worldwide for over 30 years.
