A global industrial engineering company is seeking a
Capital Equipment Estimator
to support the development of detailed project cost estimates and proposals for large-scale, engineered systems. This role plays a critical part in the commercial and technical bid process-interfacing across engineering, procurement, and sales to deliver accurate, competitive, and timely project estimates.
Key Responsibilities Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical data sheets to define project scope and estimation requirements Develop complete cost estimates for mechanical process equipment, piping, structural steel, and related installation services Coordinate with engineering and supply chain teams to source vendor pricing, manufacturing inputs, and subcontractor costs Prepare formal proposals and RFQ responses in accordance with company guidelines and client expectations Analyze historical project data to validate assumptions and refine future estimates Support margin analysis, risk reviews, and commercial negotiations with input on cost drivers Maintain pricing databases, vendor records, and templates for recurring project types Assist business development and sales with estimating timelines, technical questions, and bid strategies Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or related field 5+ years of experience estimating
capital equipment ,
industrial systems , or
fabrication projects Solid understanding of mechanical components such as pressure vessels, structural steel, piping, motors, and skids Familiarity with ASME, API, or other industrial codes and specifications Proficiency with estimating tools, Excel, ERP systems, and project documentation workflows Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across technical and commercial functions Attention to detail, cost awareness, and ability to meet deadlines in a high-stakes proposal environment Preferred Experience
Background in heavy industry, metals, energy, or chemical process systems Experience with international bidding or working with global suppliers and clients Exposure to EPC, fabrication, or modular equipment delivery models
