USG Detroit is searching for an experienced
Industrial Electrician , with a strong desire for a Journeyman Electrician that has PLC experience. This position will ultimately be responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Maintaining electrical plant equipment, which includes equipment such as HMI's, PLC's, Burner Controls, RTD's, Thermocouples, Ink Jet Printers, Three-Phase Motors, Motor Controls, Lighting Systems, Motors with Starters and Brakes, Wiring Terminations, etc. • Following Routine Preventative Maintenance best practices • Understanding of LSS/LEAN principles with workshop experience • Troubleshooting plant equipment on-line - Proficient knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes and OSHA/ MSHA safety standards. Enforce all national and local codes and keep up with any changes in the industry • Perform preventative and predictive electrical maintenance functions • Monitor and inspect substation equipment for proper operation and any signs of deterioration • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protective devices • Assist in the testing and commissioning of new substation equipment • Read and interpret electrical schematics and use various testing equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot problems • Work with engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure efficient and reliable electrical operations • Ability to troubleshoot and make decisions about necessary repairs to ensure reliable electrical operations
Qualifications & Requirements: • Journeyman or Master Electrician Preferred. • Willing to work any shift, mandatory overtime, weekends and callouts. • Proven work history demonstrating safe work habits, regular and predictable attendance, and the ability to work with limited supervision. • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, work at heights and in confined spaces, accept "on-call" responsibility and possess excellent basic math, verbal, and written communications skills. • Experience with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment (multimeter, megger, etc.) conduit bending and wire pulling. • Experience with reading electrical schematics and cable drawings to properly size conduits, conductors and install electrical equipment/systems within NEC code. • Exposure to NFPA 70E code and requirements. • Experience with field termination/change out of motors, transformers, sensors, switches, valves, and process control equipment (control valves, transmitters, and scales).
Troubleshooting skills: • 24vdc control system. • 120vac motor control. • 480vac, 3 phase power distribution and motor control. • Process control/ladder logic.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
