Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting
This role is primarily responsible for assisting with Welltower's financial statement close and external reporting process, with a focus on external financial reporting for Welltower Inc. and its U.S. subsidiaries, coordination of corporate and subsidiary audits and completion/review of contractual investor reporting packages. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, expertise with preparing or reviewing financial statements, and be highly detail-oriented. Key responsibilities include: Supervise and coach a team of 2-3 accounting staff/seniors Assist in preparation and review of financial statements and related footnotes Engage external audit firms and oversee the audit process from planning to completion for multiple joint ventures and legal entities Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and manage audit requests Coordinate with internal departments (other accounting functions, treasury, tax, legal), as well as joint venture operating partners to gather information and ensure accuracy in financial statements Collaborate with investors and auditors on appropriate accounting treatment and disclosures Develop and maintain reporting templates and tools (e.g. Workiva, Excel, Yardi, OneStream) for efficiency and accuracy Other duties may include: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of this employee for this job. Minimum requirements include: Bachelor's degree in accounting is required Professional certification of CPA or equivalent is strongly desired At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in SEC reporting or public accounting Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements Excellent analytical, written/verbal communication skills and project management Experience with consolidation principles, intercompany eliminations and lease accounting is strongly desired A strong aptitude for accounting systems; proficiency in software and tools used for financial reporting (Workiva experience preferred) Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment An ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels across the organization Familiarity with real estate and joint venture accounting is a plus Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
