Surface Scientist Intern

As a Surface Scientist Intern at Micron, you will learn about applying surface science techniques to the design and development of semiconductor devices, using innovative capabilities to improve the next generation of memory solutions. This internship aims to accelerate learning cycles by developing techniques to prepare and analyze semiconductor devices and thin film materials through the application of surface analysis techniques. We need scientists passionate about solving problems in an innovative and collaborative environment. We will assign you a project to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Your research tasks are designed to optimize and improve sample preparation and characterization for cutting-edge memory devices. Through this project, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with others from Micron's process development and laboratory teams. At the end of the period, we aim for you to have a deep understanding of the measurement strategies employed in today's semiconductor environment and how they intersect with the operation of an analytical laboratory. Qualifications: Proactive and passionate about learning (training and coursework) Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation, including: XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) SIMS (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) Electrical Characterization Techniques Atom Probe Tomography (APT) Dual Beam Focused Ion Beam (FIB) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Excellent technical, communication, and analytical skills Responsibilities: Partner with Surface Scientists to evaluate and improve sample preparation and analysis techniques. Collaborate with multi-functional teams to analyze data that may drive process improvements. Build and improve upon techniques and identify new, creative and innovative ways to use existing tools. Actively participate in technical meetings to identify new opportunities or novel, sophisticated approaches. Document the results of scientific research through reports and presentations. Education: Pursuing a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
