Private Credit & Special Situations Associate Attorney (5th-7th Year) - New York
Direct Counsel is seeking a
Finance Associate Attorney
to join a
leading global law firm
within its Private Credit & Special Situations team in New York.
About the Role: This associate will work on a broad array of complex debt financing transactions, including: Acquisition financing (particularly for sponsor-backed companies in the middle market) Term loan and working capital facilities Commitment letters and sponsor grids Unitranche facilities Intercreditor arrangements In addition to handling leveraged finance transactions, this role offers a unique opportunity to engage in
special situations, workouts, and in- and out-of-court restructuring transactions.
While distressed credit experience is a plus, the firm values strong leveraged finance experience combined with an intellectual curiosity to expand into broader restructuring work.
Qualifications:
5-7 years of finance experience at a law firm Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing Strong academic credentials and law firm training required Experience representing private credit and opportunistic debt funds, ad hoc lender groups, investment/commercial banks, corporate borrowers, and private equity sponsors preferred
Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is
$365,000-$420,000 annually , with actual pay dependent on experience and other relevant factors.
