Medical Assistant
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support the practice on-site Monday through Friday (8:45am-5:15pm). Responsibilities include: coordinating pre-visit preparations including addressing the special needs of patients, ensuring relevant labs and tests are scheduled and completed prior to office visit, organization of paper chart, etc.; escorting patients to the exam rooms and taking vital signs; performing a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice, including but not limited to injections and EKGs; obtaining blood specimens in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining a professional, patient-sensitive atmosphere; providing assistance to providers with office procedures; preparing requisitions and submitting specimens to the laboratory; sending in electronic prescriptions for patients that have been instructed by providers; communicating with patients regarding laboratory, imaging results and prescription instructions per practice protocol; cleaning and restocking exam rooms; and maintaining the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records including but not limited to treatment, diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred; Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred. Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position; ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments; accuracy and attention to detail; comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations; ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens; comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols; proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software; using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; managing one's own time and the time of others.
