Corporate Litigation Paralegal

Our client, a historically highly successful corporate litigation firm based in Wilmington, is seeking a corporate litigation paralegal to support a busy practice group. This paralegal will receive a cellphone, office, benefits on day one, free parking in DE, and more. No major overtime, and paralegals share the workload as a group. Requirements: Brief preparation, including proofreading, quote checking, ensuring case law is valid and accurate in accordance with Bluebook. Review and correct tables of authority and tables of content. Review and assemble exhibits to be included in the appendix to briefs. Perform ECF filings in federal court and filings in state courts. Ideal candidate is proficient with Delaware Chancery Court practice. Understanding of litigation process, including class actions and MDL matters. Coordinate service of all pleadings to parties and filings with court, including summonses. Prepare hearing materials and witness files. Trial attendance and trial management. Maintain case calendar, including calculation of all deadlines based on local rules, federal rules and/or scheduling orders. Review and summarize rules of procedure in court where action will be filed. Research including obtaining public records, investigate corporate background to determine proper party(ies) to sue, statutory agent, and officers. Assist attorney in reviewing documents for privilege; draft privilege logs. Schedule, organize, and control document acquisitions and/or productions. Draft form documents, including motions, affidavits, notices of depositions, etc. As necessary and appropriate, prepare commissions to take out-of-state depositions. Conduct computer-assisted legal and factual research using on-line services such as Westlaw and Lexis. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Knowledge and Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong Bluebook and legal citation skills. Demonstrate strong attention to detail. Demonstrate the ability to work well under stress and regularly meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task to effectively manage workload and scope of responsibilities. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong database skills to include document databases (Summation, Concordance) and image databases. Westlaw, Lexis, Pacer, Courtlink. Internet research. Education and Work Experience: Minimum two (2) years experience working in a multi-lawyer law firm. Bachelor's degree in English or related field strongly preferred. Previous experience conducting court filings in federal and state courts. Experience with Delaware Chancery Court preferred.
