Job Description Houston Forensic Science, Inc. (The Houston Forensic Science Center) is a new independent organization created by Houston Mayor Annise Parker and the Houston City Council to provide forensic science services formerly delivered by the Houston Police Department. Houston Forensic Science, Inc. has been officially registered as a Texas Local Government Corporation* since June 26, 2012.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities and Logistics Coordinator has responsibility for coordinating facility and logistic functions within Houston Forensic Science Center (HFSC). The incumbent has responsibility for property inspection and maintenance of the facilities housing HFSC operations, and monitoring assigned equipment, ensuring that it is maintained and operating efficiently. This includes the HFSC vehicle fleet.

Specific duties may include, but not be limited to: Serve as a point of contact (POC) between HFSC and the 500 Jefferson landlord, building engineers, and front desk personnel for facilities related issues/ repairs Inspect properties housing HFSC operations to determine the need for maintenance or repairs, including 500 Jefferson and the VEB, ensuring that approved services are completed on time and within budget. Plan, schedule, monitor, and coordinate general maintenance of property and equipment, such as the Loftin generator, HVAC inspections/services, electrical upgrades, laboratory pressure systems, temperature monitoring systems, etc. Solicit bids and obtain detailed quotes for non-routine work/construction requested to satisfy HFSC facility needs, covering both administrative space and laboratory space Monitor contracts, service maintenance agreements, calibration checks, and annual preventative maintenance agreements for equipment and services assigned to the Logistics & Equipment Dept, to include the generator, pipettes, hoods, balances, scopes, di water systems, etc. Ensure maintenance of the HFSC vehicle fleet, to include registration, routine maintenance, identified repairs, fuel pump access, etc. Assist the Logistics & Equipment manager in internal audit preparation, non-conformance response, risk assessments, and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Receive and escort vendors/contractors as needed. Performs other duties as requested. Experience and Skills MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Associates/ Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a business or logistics-related field is preferred. Relevant years of experience in the field of logistics/facilities may be considered in lieu of degree. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

One to three years experience, which should include responsibilities and work related to equipment management, facilities, and/or logistics. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated Proficiency with Microsoft products such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Proficiency with pallet jacks, freight elevators, lift gates, and moving/transporting heavy items is strongly preferred Knowledge of facility operations, project management, building maintenance is strongly preferred Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication Demonstrated skill in using computers and related software applications Demonstrated skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing work assignments Demonstrated ability to effectively handle conflict and uncertain situations Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with internal and external customers
