Facility Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by leading clinical and quality initiatives, supporting consistent clinical performance and standards across the hospital. The CMO provides senior leadership for infection control, risk management, safety, and medical staff credentialing, ensuring collaboration among stakeholders. The CMO analyzes quality performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and contributes to hospital strategy and service line development to promote quality management and an optimal patient experience. Major Responsibilities: Physician Alignment Leads clinical performance expectations to ensure superior outcomes and patient experience. Collaborates with hospital leadership and medical staff to improve organizational effectiveness. Partners with medical staff and management to facilitate teamwork and shared goals, representing medical staff viewpoints to management and vice versa. Provides clinical support on cost-effective resource management, sharing reports and recommendations. Creates a data-driven environment for quality and cost improvement, developing systems to review resource utilization and measure care outcomes. Serves as a liaison between physicians and clinical services. Develops and maintains medical education programs for staff leadership. Leads educational sessions on clinical resource management, standards, utilization, and quality improvement. Assembles regional physician advisory panels and serves as a liaison with leadership and physicians. Explains and promotes clinical initiatives to physicians and hospital staff. Collaborates with other facility and corporate CMOs, and educates physicians on clinical technologies. Works with supply chain on formulary and supply opportunities. Medical Staff Affairs Develops policies for disruptive and impaired physicians, and monitors their effectiveness. Provides recommendations on policies related to medical staff affairs.
