Position Overview:
We are seeking a Temporary DOT Transportation Support Specialist to assist with transportation operations at a waste management facility. This role supports daily fleet activity, driver compliance, and regulatory requirements under the Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation logistics and DOT compliance within an industrial or environmental services setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) and driver qualification standards
Maintain driver qualification files (DQFs) and vehicle inspection records
Assist with scheduling, routing, and tracking waste transport vehicles
Support ELD compliance and help monitor driver logs
Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely fleet inspections and service
Help administer drug and alcohol testing program compliance
Prepare records and reports for DOT audits or internal reviews
Provide administrative support for transportation documentation and routing reports
Collaborate with safety and site operations staff to support overall compliance and efficiency
Minimum Qualifications:
Prior experience in a transportation or fleet management role involving DOT compliance
Understanding of waste transport logistics, fleet scheduling, and regulatory paperwork
Familiarity with DOT files, HOS rules, and ELD systems
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or fleet software systems
High school diploma or equivalent required
Qualifications:
Prior experience working in waste management, environmental services, or industrial fleet operations
CDL license (active or former)
Experience preparing for or participating in DOT audits
OSHA 10 or 30 certification
