Job Summary/Description:
WILX TV is seeking an ambitious and talented Digital Content Manager to cover major stories in a capital city near a Big 10 University. Responsibilities include: Writing copy for digital platforms, including pre-planned and breaking news coverage. Breaking news updates via app pushes. Copy editing stories produced by others. Creating, managing, and editing text, video, and slideshow content for all digital platforms. Reporting on breaking news and pursuing news tips digitally. Collaborating with the newsroom on developing stories and digital best practices. Researching and proposing new technology strategies to enhance the WILX brand. Using digital analytics to grow the audience. Collaborating with Creative Services to produce effective content. Maintaining regular attendance and flexibility for operational needs. Recruiting and training web producers and contributors. Performing other duties as assigned by the News Director.
Qualifications/Requirements: Ability to work quickly under deadlines, multitask, be a self-starter, and flexible schedule. Proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Excellent writing and communication skills. Understanding of AP Style. Knowledge of graphic, motion, multimedia software, and content management systems. Strong ethical judgment, legal knowledge, and attention to detail. Organizational skills, flexibility, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure. Ability to interview sources for accuracy and credibility. Positive, collaborative attitude and professional appearance.
