Job Description
Urban Infraconstruction is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Manager to lead and elevate our safety culture across all levels of the organization. This role is instrumental in ensuring that safety is not just a priority, but a deeply embedded value proposition within our entire organization. The Safety Manager will design, implement, and continuously improve safety programs to protect our workforce, minimize risk, and ensure regulatory compliance on all job sites and company locations. The Safety Manager will also enforce Urbans safety policies, assess risk and ensure compliance with all Federal, State and local guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership and Culture
Champion a proactive, behavior-based safety culture throughout the organization. Influence and empower all team membersfrom field crews to executive leadershipto take ownership of safety. Lead regular safety stand-downs, toolbox talks, and safety workshops.
Policy & Program Development
Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and training manuals in alignment with OSHA and other applicable regulations. Collaborate with field and corporate leadership to tailor programs to specific project types and job site conditions.
Training & Education
Deliver or coordinate mandatory safety training sessions (e.g., fall protection, confined space entry, PPE, hazard communication, etc.). Ensure all employees and subcontractors are properly trained and understand Urbans safety expectations and processes. Track and maintain training records and certifications.
Site Inspections and Audits
Conduct regular site safety inspections and risk assessments across all active projects. Identify potential hazards, issue corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution. Analyze safety performance data and trends to drive continuous improvement.
Incident Response and Investigation
Lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and injuries, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are documented and implemented. Prepare timely and accurate reports for internal use and external compliance requirements. Manage all claims associated with incidents
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations. Manage interactions with regulatory agencies and facilitate inspections. Maintain all required records, reports, and documentation.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum 7 years of safety experience in the construction industry, preferably infrastructure or heavy civil. OSHA 30-hour certification; CSP, CHST, or equivalent preferred. Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and other construction-related safety standards. Proven ability to develop safety programs and drive cultural change.
Preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required.
