In residential treatment, milieu therapy is the core treatment modality employed. It is critical that all members of the team work together to mitigate the effects that past trauma has had on the youth we work with. The Programming Coordinator is part of the clinical team and oversees and coordinates the various activities that support healing and community within the program. The Programming Coordinator works closely with the Child Care Worker Supervisor (CCWS), Program Manager (PM), Family Psychotherapist, Infant Mental Health Specialist, Caseworkers and Program Nurse to develop and implement programming that will increase the sense of community and promote healing. II. Task, Role and Function Oversee Steps to Success Program: Work with primaries around youths goal development, plan welcome dinners, distribute and track incentives, request moving-up meetings, plan recognition certificates or events related to Steps to Success Program. Co-facilitates regular House Meetings: Works with CCW and PM to schedule and facilitate House Meetings with an emphasis on building community and problem solving around youth concerns and house issues. Works with youth to identify concerns prior to meetings. Prepares agenda, keeps attendance, and documents meetings with minutes. Plans and implements in-house and community activities: Together with youth plans and implements activities both in the facility and in the community. Activities may be either moms only or mother/child activities. Facilitates, or co-facilitates, these activities with Child Care Workers. Counseling: Understanding the impact of trauma on behavior and providing and modeling responsive care. Peer Group: Managing the group, understanding peer group dynamics, and creating a sense of community. Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS); Implement CPS strategies with youth and staff. BA level employee helps train and support staff in the use of CPS strategies. Safety Plans (ICMPs): Updates Safety Plans and reviews with staff in staff meetings (with BA level employee). Co-facilitates groups: Co-facilitates groups with clinical team staff and interns (with BA level employee). Documentation: Documents all activities through progress notes to be provided to the Case Worker. Provides receipts for expenditures. III. Supporting Positive Behavior: Recognizes the strength in individuals and supports positive behavior Address Negative Behavior: Addresses negative behavior in a non-judgmental, trauma responsive, and collaborative problem solving manner. Ability and Willingness to be Introspective: The ability to understand your role and its impact on the youth, staff and organization and to self-reflect on your performance. The ability to accept and incorporate feedback. Well organized, strong emotional and social intelligence, strong leadership, flexibility and a can do attitude. Desire and willingness to attend trainings. Teamwork: The ability to work with others and put the whole ahead of the parts. Qualifications - External Qualifications Bachelors preferred, some college in relevant fields a plus and minimum requirements HS Diploma or GED. Drivers license preferred, if not willing to travel using mass transit. Prior experience working with teens is desirable. Knowledge of the community and the resources located in the community in which the position is located is preferable. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable though not required Qualifications
