SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The
Assay Development Research Scientist 1
position is suited for candidates experienced in developing high-sensitivity, scalable tests, particularly with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). Responsibilities include designing and developing automated, high-throughput genetic tests from concept to commercial launch, within a collaborative environment emphasizing cross-functional projects. The role involves assessing and integrating new technologies, troubleshooting, and maintaining assays. Key Job Elements
Develop high-sensitivity tests for NGS. Develop, test, and evaluate NGS technologies. Troubleshoot laboratory preparation and Illumina sequencing instruments. Design and analyze experiments independently. Optimize genetic assays and communicate results clearly. Conduct quality control of algorithms for panels. Ensure attention to detail and organization. Participate in designing and launching new tests. Collaborate across teams to develop and maintain assays. Qualifications
Knowledge / Experience: PhD or Masters in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field; >5 years for Masters, >3 years for PhD preferred. Experience with DNA/RNA library prep, Target amplification, NGS. Knowledge of human genetics, NGS, genotyping. Experience with CLIA/CAP labs and genetic testing companies preferred. Basic bioinformatics understanding. Knowledge of HIPAA, SOPs, and safety procedures. Ability to correlate NGS data with lab procedures. Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong interpersonal skills and project management. Supervisory Responsibilities:
