Position Summary:
Albright College houses an internally run on-Campus bookstore, a full gallery, and a nationally recognized Theatre and Theatre program. These areas of the campus are integral in being first points of contact for the College and potential students as well as gathering places for visitors from all areas of the region. Auxiliary Services Student Assistants play an active and important public service role by representing the college to various internal and external individuals browsing or looking to purchase merchandise, tickets, and artwork. Assistants will be tasked with working between these areas to maintain sales and distribution of retail merchandise, tickets, and information based on the area they are working.
Assistants are trained and responsible for being informed about current and upcoming performances, gallery shows, and merchandise so that they may accurately answer questions from potential patrons and customers of the College. Additionally, Assistants are responsible for handling money, transactions, and preparing advanced tickets, retail merchandise, sale events, gallery receptions and learning the different POS (Point of Sale) software used daily transactions. Assistants may be asked for help with other duties pertaining to the Bookstore, Gallery, and Box Office.
On occasion, some sales events may be held offsite and on evening/weekend hours such as pop-up shops for athletic games.
Essential Job Functions:
Actively greet visitors, providing exceptional customer service Assist customers in-person, by phone and online regarding questions about book orders/fulfillment and store merchandise. Process transactions in the POS software, handle cash and credit transactions, including student charges to accounts. Actively participate in training, reading and understanding verbal and documented instructions for operations of POS systems and policies related to the store, box office, and gallery experience. Answer questions from visitors as well as those who call the phones. Responsible for learning and providing accurate information about each performance, existing and new merchandise, and exhibitions Inform visitors of theatre rules related to food/beverage, bags, photography, etc. Conduct opening/closing tasks as noted. Assist with set-up/tear-down and running of events, including catering preparation and beverage service. While on duty, notifying appropriate staff of security or maintenance issues. Applying for open shifts that fit your schedule. Assist with pricing, stocking, and inventory counts as required. Assist with shipping, packing/unpacking, and general cleaning bookstore, gallery, and box office. Taking attendance Other duties assigned may include, installation/deinstallation tasks, social media, research and working on the gallery archives Qualifications/Prerequisites :
1.SKILLS
Must have excellent customer service skills, including the ability to proactively engage visitors. Demonstrated interest in Albright College, the performing arts, retail, and visual arts is preferred. Ability to handle money and sales transactions in a secure and confidential manner. 2.EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
Prior work experience not required, but experience in ticketing or operating a POS system preferred. 3.EDUCATION
Must be a currently enrolled student at Albright College
