Senior Project Manager

Organizes and controls project materials, schedules, and costs. Acts as liaison between internal clients and external contractors from point of client conception through project completion. May provide technical expertise in a professional field such as architecture, electrical or mechanical engineering, or construction management. Provides visual inspection and quality control by monitoring construction progress. Ensures compliance with intended results, codes, regulations, and requested standards. Reviews materials and methods, questions, conflicts, and changes. Manage client issues in relation to construction decisions and preferences. Research technical options and proposes solutions. Records any relevant or outstanding issues in project and/or technical specialty databases/reports. Provides maintenance support and/or technical advice to other departments and schools throughout the University system. At intermediate level, determines the responsibilities and specifications for project(s) by identifying project phases and elements, studying client requirements, assigning personnel, reviewing contractor bids, and preparing cost estimates. Minimum Training & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Structural Engineering or Construction or Project Management. Equivalent years of combined education and experience may be considered. Certification/Licensure: Licensed Architect or Licensed Professional Engineer. 10 years experience in construction, design, and/or construction or project management, including 2 years of experience with large capital projects (greater than $10 million construction costs). Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of best practices in capital project design and construction process. Ability to evaluate proposals, design and construction modifications and change orders. Ability to address multiple tasks, technical issues, and contingencies simultaneously. Skill in acting as a liaison with external agencies, campuses, or other high level contacts. Ability to continuously seek quality service and process improvements in order to support a mission and strategic vision. Ability to communicate and interact with, as well as support effective partnerships with peers. Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, to facilitate timely completion of projects and to conduct research and gather information. Consultation and change management skills. Oral/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
