is seeking Associate Attorney for our Greater Cleveland, Ohio office location. Sandhu Law Group LLC is a full-service civil litigation and creditors rights law firm delivering quality legal services for individuals, companies and financial institutions throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
A successful candidate must pass a background check. All candidates will be subject to pre-employment screens and confirmation of eligibility to work in the United States. Consideration for employment with Sandhu Law Group LLC is conditional upon successful completion of these required standards.
Job Description:
Candidate will independently handle a full load of cases under the supervision of a senior attorney. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, drafting and reviewing of initial complaints, service of summons, deeds, contracts, judgement and sale documentation, and other real estate instruments. Additionally, the candidate is expected to research and draft legal memoranda, motions and response to briefs, as well as occasional appellate briefs and motions as they arise. Candidates should be prepared to appear and argue in state trial and appellate courts, and before administrative bodies, municipal courts and federal courts as required. Candidate must be able to provide quick and effective counsel to clients on strategy for pending cases, as well as any regulatory or compliance changes to laws, to obtain satisfactory results for clients.
Responsibilities:
Acts with the highest ethical standards both as a legal professional and as a member of the Firm. Actively promotes professionalism, collegiality and diversity within and outside the Firm. Directly and indirectly contributes to the financial success of the Firm. Possesses strong organizational, writing, and analytical skills. Represents clients at legal, administrative and other proceedings as assigned. Researches and interprets laws, rulings, and regulations and formulates legal opinions for review. Identifies causes of action and prepares lawsuits based upon an investigation of facts and applicable laws and procedures. Conducts discovery in conformity with applicable rules. Interviews clients and witnesses in preparation for legal proceedings. Reviews, drafts, and/or dictates legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents. Acts in compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and other applicable consumer protection statutes and regulations. Participates in the development of strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for presentation of cases. Monitors routine case files to formulate the next course of action and ensure deadlines are maintained. Assigns and reviews the work of department staff, as required. Completes both required and applicable optional learning classes and opportunities. Complete all required training applicable to assigned position. Additional duties as requested or required.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) and 1-3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of relevant laws, legal codes, legal/court procedures, precedents, and government regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (F.D.C.P.A.) and other applicable consumer protection statutes and regulations, and processes and documents specific to assigned specialty area. Ability to interpret and apply legal principles and procedures and develop effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and court systems. Must hold a current, valid state license to practice law in Ohio. Must practice according to the rules of professional conduct and ethical standards as required by the attorneys licensing state.
