COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING INTERN
The Communications & Marketing Specialist Intern will support CCAM's communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement efforts. Interns will help ensure CCAM delivers timely, compelling, and consistent content to its partners, members, and the broader public while learning best practices in communications strategy, digital tools, and storytelling.
IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL:
Build skills in communications and marketing by:
Developing time-sensitive marketing materials, including press releases, feature stories, fact sheets, photo galleries, and digital/in-person updates. Supporting the creation of content for internal and external audiences to raise awareness about CCAM's research, events, and impact including content creation for the Member Portal. Writing stories and content that highlight CCAM research projects, upcoming events, and organizational milestones for various outlets including social media. Tailoring messages for diverse audiences, including students, researchers, and industry partners. Monitoring social media and web analytics to track engagement and assess outreach effectiveness. Develop project coordination experience by:
Assisting in the planning and promotion of CCAM events, workshops, and conferences. Capturing and documenting CCAM activities and creating an internal story archive. Supporting the development of signage, event materials, slide decks, and public-facing communications templates. Gain hands-on digital media skills by:
Creating and scheduling social media content across CCAM platforms. Helping update and maintain the CCAM website with news, events, and highlights. Supporting photography, video, and visual storytelling efforts. Strengthen communication skills by:
Writing and formatting content for newsletters, reports, and presentations. Drafting and editing articles and features for internal and external audiences. Learning best practices in branding, style consistency, and message clarity. INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE & HOURS
• Up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.
• Up to 40 hours per week during school breaks and the summer.
• Schedule can be adjusted to accommodate academic commitments.
• Hybrid
• Hours: 8-5PM

Requirements
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
This internship requires access to information subject to export control. Candidates must be qualified for such access without an export control license.
At a minimum, candidates must have completed at least two years of academic credit in communications or a related program.
Prefer graduate students in Marketing and Communication programs.
Academic Major OR Area of Focus:
Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, or related degree Completed Coursework:
Intro to Mass Communication, Media Writing or Public Relations Writing, Digital Media/Design, Communication Theory, Analytics/Research Methods, Technical or Strategic Writing Technical Skills:
Strong writing and editing skills; familiarity with Google Workspace, social media platforms, MailChimp (or similar email tools), and website editing (WordPress preferred). Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools is a plus. ABILITY TO:
Communicate clearly across multiple formats (written, visual, digital). Work independently and meet deadlines with minimal oversight. Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, creative environment.
