Tradesman II - Regulated - Heating

General Statement of Duties
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the assembly, adjustment, and maintenance of various types of HVAC equipment. Must be able to read blueprints, be familiar with mechanical codes, OSHA guidelines and comply with standards of the trade. Good knowledge of the procedures, tools and equipment of the trade is necessary; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Essential Duties
- Installs, maintains and repairs all types of HVAC and temperature control systems; i.e. boilers, heat pumps, air handlers, chilled
water and hot water systems;
- Checks various units and systems for correct operating pressures and possible leaks;
- Checks all systems for leaks, faulty control mechanisms and adjusts or regulates such mechanisms as required;
- Determines proper balance of air in fan systems and liquid flow through heating systems
- Makes regular scheduled inspections of all heating systems and checks stack temperature, draft and amount of CO2 in flue gas to determine efficiency of operation
- Performs overtime work on scheduled, unscheduled, routine or emergency basis as assigned
- Engaged and on task
- Attends work daily
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or trade school with experience in the repair and maintenance of heating equipment. HVAC journey license desirable. CFC card required. Physical condition will permit activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting, bending, driving, and working under adverse temperatures and/or weather conditions. Ability to work from high altitudes using scaffold, ladders, etc.
Additional Information
This position is open until filled. Minimum salary is $47,788.15 or based on promotion policy for internal candidates.
School year hours: Mon-Fri, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m; Summer hours are Mon-Thurs 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
