Description

Mallard Creek Polymers is seeking a qualified Chemical Production Shift Supervisor to join our team.

Who you are: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for shift oversight and the coordination of personnel activities on the shift as required to safely meet all production and quality requirements. Ensures accurate and safe production methods are followed by all plant associates. The Shift Supervisor will provide hands-on management of the orientation, training, and productivity of their associates.

What you do:

Our ideal teammate has work-related experience with the following Ensure the safety of all employees in the operation of equipment through proper training, enforcement of safety rules, documentation, and following proper procedures.

Ensure employees keep their work areas clean and free of debris and contaminants. Provide feedback and guidance to associates to foster growth and improvement. Model appropriate behavioral and functional expectations.

Coordinate and adjust shift personnel activities to meet daily requirements for chemical operation, filtering, packaging, and truck loading.

Counsel and correct improper techniques that are affecting productivity and quality. Ensure that newly hired employees are properly trained.

Ensure proper and accurate reporting of all daily requirements and metrics (quality, safety, productivity, schedule attainment, yield) Obtain accurate knowledge of plant conditions from current Shift Supervisor at start of shift and provide same to the follow up Shift Supervisor prior to departure. Maintain the status of plant process and utility systems, including emission controls, wastewater, and rainwater through regular inspections throughout the plant site. Provide ideas and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that downtime is minimized, and yield is maximized. Provide leadership and direction to production staff during process deviations/upsets that occur during the shift. Take the lead role in communicating to support staff for direction or assistance (Engineers, EH&S, Maintenance). Oversee shift personnel attendance. Ensures that shift employees are following site policies.

Informs, mentors and counsels as necessary. Work with other supervisors to ensure there is adequate vacation coverage

Provide leadership for shift safety meetings and housekeeping objectives. Responsible for shift compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and compliance with site EHSA manual policies and procedures.

Ensure that appropriate security measures are always in place on shift at the physical plant site and at the speed rail location. Perform the role of Incident Command Leader during emergency situations Provide leadership during investigation of accidents, incidents or process deviations/upsets that occurred on shift. Ensure that all employees during the shift abide by site safety procedures (including visitors and contract personnel).

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

5 years of related job experience required At least 3 years as supervisor in a manufacturing facility A college degree is preferred or Chemical Plant Operator certification preferred or must be willing to attain within the first 18 months of employment Experience in a chemical or manufacturing plant preferred. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures and goals regarding manufacturing safety and environmental matters Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; comfortable communicating with operations team, supervisors, associates, and management team. Must be able to think clearly in stressful situations and provide sound guidance to production personnel. Forklift experience desired. Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean production and quality methodologies Excellent planning, organizational and analytical skills Intermediate math and computer skills. Strong multi-tasking and time management skills. Comfortable working on several tasks simultaneously Strong computer experience using spreadsheets and word processing software Must have the ability and attitude to provide tactical and strategic leadership for production personnel Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to climb ladders and stairs, Must be able to lift 50 pounds in accordance with acceptable practices and procedures. May be required work on feet for extended periods of time and in low/high temperature conditions. Required to use various hand tools and drive a forklift.

Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 2/2/3 Schedule, Days and Nights (rotating)

Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
