Our Company operates over 130 towboats on the Mississippi River System, Gulf-Intracoastal Waterway, and near-shore coastwise market. In addition, the Company controls over 1,000 dry cargo barges. The Company has additional offices in St Rose, LA, Lockport, LA and La Porte, TX. With over 1,500 vessel and shore-based employees, Marquette is the largest provider of independent towing services within the inland waterways. We are theonlyfully integrated fleet in the industry that can do what we do. Position Summary
The Barge Asset Manager plays a critical role in supporting the effective management of the companys barge fleet. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate information flow between field operations and office systems, maintaining up-to-date maintenance and asset records, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize barge maintenance and logistics. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Serve as the primary liaison for daily information flow between field personnel, repair facilities, and office staff to ensure accurate and timely data entry into the BOSS system. Work in close coordination with the Barge Sales and Logistics team to ensure consistent and precise communication regarding barge status and availability. Identify aging barge assets and provide detailed monthly updates to the management team regarding their status and recommended actions. Input and organize survey reports, damage assessments, photos, and related documentation into DocuWare, and other digital systems. Maintain comprehensive and organized records of barge inspections, audits, drawings, photos, and draft charts. Manage and update the Barge Fleet Profile and master barge database. Enter barge damage reports and coding details into the BOSS system for tracking and reporting purposes. Conduct cost analysis reporting for barge maintenance, categorized by barge series, to support budget and planning decisions. Assist with Job Router exception processes and ensure proper documentation and resolution. Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Barge Maintenance Manager. Qualifications: Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is required. Highly motivated, proactive, and eager to learn new systems and processes. Prior experience or knowledge of the marine transportation industry is preferred but not required. Bachelors degree in business, logistics, marine operations, or related field preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-paced team environment.
