Summary
The Director of Prospect Management and Research will play a critical role in advancingTrine Universitys mission by identifying, analyzing, and managing potential donorsto support strategic fundraising initiatives. This position will develop and implementprospect research strategies, ensure effective pipeline management, and deliver actionableinsights to empower university leaders and gift officers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prospect Research and Analysis Identify and qualify prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, andfoundations, using advanced research tools and techniques. Analyze data to assess giving potential and affinity to the university's mission. Prepare detailed prospect profiles, wealth screenings, and capacity assessments toinform cultivation and solicitation strategies Prospect Management Oversee the prospect management system, ensuring the effective assignment and trackingof prospects throughout the donor lifecycle. Partner with advancement team members to monitor and optimize the prospect pipeline. Facilitate regular meetings to review prospect portfolios, identify opportunities,and address challenges. Data and Systems Management Maintain and enhance the universitys donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-dateinformation. Develop and enforce best practices for data integrity and confidentiality. Utilize data analytics to identify trends, forecast outcomes, and inform strategicdecision-making. Strategic Collaboration Work closely with gift officers to provide research support for major and principalgift prospects. Collaborate with university leadership to support comprehensive campaign planningand execution. Stay informed on industry trends and emerging tools to ensure innovative and effectiveresearch methodologies. Education and/or Experience
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a related field such as business, communications, or data analytics;advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 35 years of experience in prospect research, development, or related areas. Proficiency with donor databases (preference for Slate) and research tools (e.g.,iWave, DonorSearch, LexisNexis). Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education or non-profit fundraising. Familiarity with wealth indicators, financial documents, and philanthropic trends. Knowledge of prospect segmentation, moves management, and campaign strategy.
