Account Manager

Account Managers grow and maintain profitable ArcBest business by selling and marketing ArcBest solutions and services to current and prospective customers. Responsibilities include assisting in the collection process and cargo claim prevention, aggressively pursuing customers using networking, social media, and customer referrals, conducting calls and face-to-face meetings, creating service solutions for customer's unique business problems, monitoring the company's industry competitors, negotiating service requirements and prices, establishing service packages, managing business relationships and entertaining customers, collaborating with customers, front-line management, and various ArcBest departments, making sales calls and presentations to customers of all sizes, maintaining and growing expertise of ArcBest service offerings, obtaining and developing new accounts utilizing Company techniques and methods, identifying customer challenges, developing and implementing solutions to create opportunities, developing sales strategies, and a comprehensive understanding of customers' business models, working in a team setting to accomplish goals, interacting with all employees and customers in a professional and courteous manner, maintaining a positive, customer-focused attitude in a highly intense environment, exhibiting excellent customer service, conducting and receiving phone calls and emails to identify opportunities, solve problems, build relationships, secure profitable business, and increase market share, completing itinerary and call report as required by Company guidelines and IRS regulations, completing monthly sales audit reports and expense reports as company guidelines require, maintaining accurate territory account information in ArcBest database. Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree, preferred, relevant experience, transportation industry and related sales experience, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of business solutions, competitors, and decision makers, knowledge of ArcBest company policies, services, computer systems and services capabilities. Competencies include addressing customer needs, cross-selling, negotiating, perseverance and follow-through, problem solving, relationship management, sales closing and agreements, selling. Work Hours: Generally, Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional irregular hours depending on workload and customer events. Compensation: This is a salary position paid biweekly.
