Job Summary: Supervises daily landfill operations. Conducts operation, maintenance, and monitoring activities at all assigned closed landfills in compliance with site permits and environmental regulations. This position is responsible for collecting and managing field monitoring data, operating and maintaining environmental remediation systems, supervising contractors, assisting with budget tracking and procurement, and acting as liaison to regulatory inspectors and other stakeholders. This is an on-site field position assigned to multiple sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Develop and grow a solid working knowledge of all landfill site-specific systems and their operation and maintenance requirements, including:

Landfill gas management and collection systems and flare/gas plant operations. Leachate management, collection and treatment systems. Related SCADA systems. Groundwater and surface water monitoring and control systems. Other ancillary equipment and site operation and maintenance requirements.

Operate and maintain site-specific systems to maintain compliance with permits and environmental regulations. Perform routine inspections designed to monitor landfill systems for maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure proper operations and long-term system improvements. Conduct routine monitoring of landfill gas collectors and gas sampling at site-specific monitoring devices as required by permits. Possess written and verbal communication and computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, particularly Excel) necessary to document compliance with site permits, environmental regulations, and company standards. Collect and record system and operational data for required records and reports at frequencies mandated by permit, regulation, or company standards. Use collected data to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve operational and environmental challenges. Utilize job-related technical software, including app-based technologies, for inspections, reporting, and data analytics. Some knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA, and automation/control systems is beneficial. Routine travel to sites as required to complete responsibilities. Supervise contractors and consultants to ensure quality and timeliness of work. Communicate effectively with management on work schedules, project updates, and site status. Maintain and update site-specific plans, records, files, and other site information. Collaborate with other staff to complete required operation, maintenance, or repair tasks. Review and implement environmental and safety regulations in accordance with site permits and company policies. Maintain positive relationships with regulators, local stakeholders, and others potentially involved with or affected by the sites. Supervisory Responsibilities: This individual will have indirect supervisory duties for site technicians and supervisory duties over third-party consultants and contractors.

Qualifications: Education and Experience

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (accredited). Experience:

4 years of relevant work experience. Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Required

Equipment operation, health, safety and environmental regulations knowledge, and supervisory experience may be required.
