Contract-to-Hire Position Overview: Our client, a leading structural steel fabricator in Waukegan, IL, is seeking a reliable and experienced
Painter
to join their team. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities:
Apply protective coatings to fabricated steel components using spray, brush, or roller techniques. Prepare surfaces according to SSPC (The Society for Protective Coatings) standards, including blasting and profiling. Accurately measure coating thickness using dry film thickness (DFT) gauges. Ensure all coatings meet required specifications and quality standards. Maintain proper documentation of completed work and inspections. Operate and maintain painting equipment and tools in safe working condition. Collaborate with fabrication and quality control teams to ensure timely completion of projects. Qualifications:
Previous experience in industrial or structural steel painting. Working knowledge of SSPC surface preparation standards and coating systems. Proficient in using DFT gauges and assessing steel surface profiles. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to read and interpret work orders and job specifications. Dependable and able to work independently or as part of a team. Additional Information:
Full-time, onsite role. Pay range is $15-$17 per hour, depending on experience. Contract-to-hire position with long-term opportunity.
