Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Estimator within the Commercial Pre Construction Department, the Senior Mechanical Estimator will play a critical role in developing accurate and competitive project estimates. This position will also collaborate closely with our Operations and Estimating Support teams to ensure seamless project handoffs and strategic alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full bid process, including bid recap, proposal writing, and bid form completion Attend bid review meetings and incorporate addenda, scope changes, and breakouts into estimates Lead internal project reviews and take off team coordination Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and analyze project plans/specifications Identify and resolve missing scope, labor, and material pricing Review vendor and subcontractor scope letters for accuracy and completeness Maintain communication with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate pricing Support pre-construction efforts by aligning estimating capacity with sales and marketing goals Apply market knowledge, customer needs, and internal capabilities to develop competitive strategies Contribute to the development and refinement of estimating processes and procedures Work independently with minimal supervision while supporting departmental goals Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating or a related role within mechanical contracting Strong knowledge of piping, plumbing, and sheet metal systems Experience estimating system costs across various building types and applications Ability to develop conceptual estimates from narratives or preliminary designs Familiarity with construction project presentations and client interviews Proficient in interpreting plans, specifications, and contractual documents Working knowledge of mechanical systems and engineering principles Proficiency with computerized estimating tools and Microsoft Office Suite Benefits
