Maintenance Technician (Electrical Focus) Location:
Vineland, New Jersey Shift:
12-Hour Night Shift | 6:00 PM 6:30 AM
Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician with strong electrical troubleshooting skills to support critical food production operations. This role plays a key part in maximizing equipment uptime by completing preventive maintenance, executing repairs, and leading equipment upgradesespecially on electrical systems including motors, control panels, sensors, and power supply units.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems across production and packaging lines.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on motors, conveyors, sealers, and PLC-driven equipment.
Wire and maintain 120V/240V single-phase and 480V three-phase systems safely and accurately.
Diagnose and repair issues with photo-eyes, sensors, relays, proximity switches, and limit switches.
Use Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to monitor and adjust machine operating parameters.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
Support changeovers and equipment adjustments for various SKUs and production specs.
Collaborate with machine operators and management to minimize downtime and optimize output.
Maintain glue and adhesive systems on packaging lines, ensuring alignment and consistency.
Support boiler, compressor, water treatment, and HVAC equipment maintenance as needed.
Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP or similar) to log work orders and PMs.
Identify and replace bearings, seals, gaskets, belts, and other mechanical parts.
Maintain and organize electrical components, tools, and spare parts inventory.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in Industrial Electricity, Mechatronics, or Controls .
3+ years of experience in a food, beverage, or packaging manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated expertise in electrical troubleshooting, wiring, and control systems.
Familiarity with PLC-based equipment, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and HMIs.
Ability to safely use multimeters, megohmmeters, and other electrical test equipment.
OSHA knowledge and Lockout/Tagout safety compliance required.
Ability to read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset to anticipate and prevent issues.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform work at heights or in confined spaces.
Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation and CMMS systems.
