ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Functional Lung Imaging Laboratory in the Department of Anesthesiology at UTMB is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to contribute to research focused on understanding the early determinants of acute lung dysfunction and injury, particularly those associated with mechanical ventilation and systemic inflammation. Our laboratory utilizes advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) techniques. We are looking for a candidate interested in pursuing an independent academic career in lung functional imaging, involving both animal and human studies, and the acquisition of physiological measurements during experiments.
PREFERRED QUAIFICATIONS:
Background in engineering, physics, or other quantitative sciences Advanced knowledge in signal processing, image processing and analysis, including the use of AI techniques, numerical analysis, image registration, mathematical modeling, and tracer kinetics Creative and systematic approach to complex problem-solving Ability to work both independently and within a team Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, and LabView Experience in animal or human research, including clinical studies Knowledge of respiratory pathophysiology
SALARY:
commensurate with experience.
